HAVE A TEAM OF KIDS FROM ANOTHER SPORT AND THEY WANT TO PLAY BASKETBALL TOGETHER? YOU CAN DO THAT AT CAPE! SUBMIT YOUR ROSTER OF YOUR FOOTBALL, LACROSSE, SOCCER, BASEBALL TEAM WHATEVER SPORT, KIDS YOU WANT TO PUT TOGETHER, HAVE THEM REGISTER AND SEND ME THE ROSTER. YOU WILL BE PLACED IN THE APPROPRIATE COUNTY LEAGUE, A, B or C. GENERAL LEAGUE INFORMATION REGARDING PRACTICES

CLINIC 5U - DO NOT PRACTICE DURING THE WEEK. THEY ONLY PRACTICE/PLAY GAMES ON SATURDAY MORNINGS IN DECEMBER, JANUARY, FEBRUARY

7U COMMUNITY LEAGUE - PRACTICE ONCE A WEEK DURING THE WEEK AND PLAY GAMES ON SATURDAY'S. PRACTICE START IN NOVEMBER, GAMES ON SATURDAY'S IN DECEMBER, JANUARY & FEBRUARY. PRACTICE NIGHT IS UP TO COACH'S AVAILABILITY.

8U THRU 17U COUNTY TEAMS - PRACTICE TWICE A WEEK DURING THE WEEK AND PLAY GAMES ON SATURDAY'S. (15U & 17U GAMES ON SUNDAY'S) PRACTICE START IN NOVEMBER, GAMES ON SATURDAY'S IN DECEMBER, JANUARY & FEBRUARY. (15U & 17U GAMES ON SUNDAY'S)  PRACTICE NIGHT IS UP TO COACH'S AVAILABILITY.

LEAGUES/AGE GROUPS

CLINIC LEAGUE CANCELLED FOR 2023-2024 YEAR
CLINIC 5U (5 Year Olds) CAPE IS LOOKING FOR A COMMISSIONER FOR THIS LEAGUE. IF YOU CAN HELP PLEASE CONTACT RON KEYES – This is a co-ed league for boys & girls 5 years old. They play games on an 8’ basket at Cape elementary school on Saturday mornings. Clinic only plays on Saturday mornings, they do not practice during the week. No score is kept in games. All players play equal time. All players receive a T-shirt and season ending trophy. Practice & games start in December. Practice schedules are determined by the coach’s availability. This is the only league where we will honor "friend requests" Fee $75. Again this league is only for 5 year olds, and some lesser skilled 6 year olds. Co-Ed, boys & girls play together. Age on 9/1 determines their age for hoops. Registration for Clinic is open until end of November. Clinic does not start practices until the first Saturday in December. All practices and games are at Cape Elementary. Refunds are given if your child withdraws prior to first game with a returned uniform. When registering for this age group you will pick CO-ED JUNIOR CLINIC. Again, these kids only practice and play on Saturday's in December, January & February.
 

7U LEAGUE CANCELLED FOR 2024-2025 YEAR
BOYS & GIRLS 7U community league (6 & 7 year olds) – These are boys & girls teams that play in a community league consisting of Cape and other local organizations. There is a boys league and a girls league. This league is NOT coed. ALL competitive 6 year olds will be moved up into this league. Games are played at local elementary schools at Cape & Belvedere. These teams will practice once during the week and play on Saturday’s. Boys play on a 9' basket, Girls play on a 8' basket. The best 8 year old players will be pulled out and put into the county league. This creates equity in the community league. County teams are formed at young ages and they then stay together and play together potentially thru 17U. Score is kept in games and all players play equal time. All players receive a tshirt and shorts and a season ending trophy. Practices start in November and games start in December. Practice schedules are determined by the coach’s availability. Fee $125. Age on 9/1 determines their age for hoops. This league starts practicing in mid November. Practices are at Cape or Belvedere Elementary and games are at Belvedere Elementary on Saturday's. Refunds are given if your child withdraws prior to first game with a returned uniform. When registering for this age group you will pick BOYS or GIRLS COMMUNITY AND COUNTY 07-08. Teams in this league practice once a week during week and play on Saturday's.

BOYS & GIRLS 8U county teams - (7 & 8 year olds) All kids registered in this league are on 8U county teams. We do not sponsor an in house intramural rec league. They practice during the week and play games on Saturday's. The practice schedule is determined by the coach's availability. The game schedule is produced by the county and will be out the first week of December. Practices start first week November, games start first Saturday in December. Kids get a jersey & shorts. Age as of 9/1 determines their age for basketball. To play 8U they cannot be 9 on or before 9/1/23. These teams are NOT co-ed. We have separate boys & girls teams. Teams must place 1st, 2nd or 3rd in their league to receive trophies. For practices we utilize Cape Elementary, Belvedere Elementary and Severn River Middle School. The county teams are placed in the A, B or C league in their age group based on talent and/or previous years results. Refunds are given if your child withdraws prior to first game with a returned uniform. When registering for this age group you will pick BOYS or GIRLS COMMUNITY AND COUNTY 07-08. Teams on county teams usually practice twice a week during the week and play games in county leagues on Saturday's.

 
BOYS & GIRLS 9U, 10U, 11U, 12U & 13U county teams - All kids registered in this league are on county teams. We do not sponsor an in house intramural rec league. The county teams are placed in the A, B or C league in their age group based on talent and/or previous years results. Refunds are given if your child withdraws prior to first game with a returned uniform. When registering for this age group you will pick BOYS or GIRLS COMMUNITY AND COUNTY 09-10, or 11-12, 13-14. Teams on county teams usually practice twice a week during the week and play games in county leagues on Saturday's. RETURNING PLAYERS - PLEASE BE SURE TO UPDATE UNIFORM SIZE!

BOYS & GIRLS 15U & 17U county teams – ALL players in these age groups are placed on county teams. 15U is for 9th & 10th graders, 17U is for 11th & 12th graders. In some age groups where we have multiple teams in an age group we will have a B team for the more competitive players and a C team for the Rec players. These teams will start practicing in November and will start playing games in December. Practice schedules are determined by the coach’s availability. Please note 15U & 17U play games are on SUNDAY'S in the county league. Age on 9/1 determines their age for hoops. County teams can start practicing the first week of November. Most kids registering for these county teams are on current teams that are moving up together.  The game schedule is produced by the county and will be out the second week of December. Please be advised these kids practice late during the week at 8pm or 9pm because of limited gym time. Coaches determine practice schedule. These teams are NOT co-ed. We have separate boys & girls teams. Kids on High School Varsity or Junior Varsity Teams cannot play on these Rec county teams. Teams must place 1st, 2nd or 3rd in their league to receive trophies. For practices we utilize Cape Elementary, Belvedere Elementary and Severn River Middle School. The county teams are placed in the A, B or C league in their age group based on talent and/or previous years results. Refunds are given if your child withdraws prior to first game with a returned uniform.When registering for this age group you will pick BOYS or GIRLS COMMUNITY AND COUNTY 15-17. Teams on county teams usually practice twice a week during the week and play games in county leagues on Sunday's. RETURNING PLAYERS - PLEASE BE SURE TO UPDATE UNIFORM SIZE!

Registration will remain open for 15U & 17U until after Broadneck High School JV & Varsity Basketball team cuts in mid November. Tryouts are on November 15-17th
 

COUNTY TEAM NOTES:
- County team rosters can be adjusted until early January 2024. In other words there can be additions, removals, players can switch teams/organizations etc.
- Players cannot play on two different county teams.
- We do have existing competitive county 8U, 9U, 10U, 11U, 12U & 13U boys & girls teams that any player can tryout for. Tryouts will be in late October and the dates/times/location will be posted.
- Age on 9/1 determines their age for hoops.
- Coach requests from returning players on existing county travel teams are honored.
- All county teams also have the opportunity to participate in the Friday night Howard county league and the AA Co Harundale Sunday league besides/in addition to the regular AA Co Saturday league in the winter.
- All county teams have the opportunity and are encouraged to play in pre season & post season tournaments.
- County teams receive trophies if they place in 1st, 2nd or 3rd.
- A player can play ONE year up, for example a 9 year old can play up one level to a 10U team, no one can play down.
- County teams will play at select gyms thruout the county, Rec & Parks schedule those games and that comes out in late November.
- Practice schedules are determined by the coach’s availability and available gym time.
- Refunds : You will be given a refund if your child drops out for whatever reason before the first regular season game upon notification and a returned uniform to the commissioner.
 

OTHER NOTES:
- Age on 9/1 determines their age for hoops.
- There is a automatic discount applied for multi children families. It is applied to the 2nd, 3rd child etc
- Parents please note that all coaches must pass a criminal background check to coach.
- Pictures will be taken during the season by Classic Photo
- Spring basketball registration will open in February 2024
- Refunds : You will be given a refund if your child drops out for whatever reason before the first regular season game upon notification and a returned uniform to the commissioner.

BASKETBALL COACHES! WOULD YOU LIKE TO RECRUIT AND SELECT YOUR OWN TEAM? YOU CAN AT CAPE! YOU HAVE TOTAL CONTROL OVER YOUR SELECTIONS. NO EVALUATIONS AND YOU HAVE TOTAL CONTROL OVER YOUR TEAM! YOU WILL BE GIVEN UNIFORMS, BALLS, AND GYM TIME IF YOU COME PLAY FOR CAPE. COACH YOUR TEAM ALL THE WAY UP THRU 17U. CONTACT RON KEYES, SUBMIT YOUR ROSTER, HAVE ALL YOUR PLAYERS REGISTER THRU CAPE AND WE WILL PLACE YOU IN THE LEVEL IN THE COUNTY LEAGUE (A, B OR C LEVEL) THAT YOU WISH TO PLAY. WE ENCOURAGE YOU TO JOIN US!
